It’s weirdly addicting

God, I’ll probably regret this after posting it, but who cares because I’m in a good mood today!

I woke up early, unwillingly, but my dog needed to use the potty. I studied, drank my coffee and have already written one post, despite my wrist deciding to burn like the fiery gates of hell.

I was just listening to a song on my Korean playlist…because that’s really all I listen to now, and this post idea came to me.

And, stop right here🀚 I do not listen to BTS. Why does everyone assume that when you like Korean music, that immediately means you like BTS? It’s getting old.

Anyways, short rant over. My husband’s birthday is today and he is still asleep, so I have some time to kill before he wakes up and birthday celebrations ensue. Although, he is kind of a party pooper and refuses to do anything for his own birthdays…

But, hell, my sister and I are getting tattoos on my birthday! I mean, it’ll be the big 30! I need a mini life crisis and tattoo my body more. Plus, I love tattoos and just can’t stop inking myself up.

Anyways…

I remember when I first started listening to Korean music, I was pretty embarrassed, even though I was alone in my office and no one could see me. Still, I kept looking away, then back again, wincing some, and forcing myself to stare at it.

Eventually, I couldn’t look away. Mostly, because my brain was so confused. I mean, it can be really weird.

After spending a year and a half listening to the same group, I decided to try a music video of theirs that I just couldn’t watch before. Lowkey, I’m kind of addicted to it now…

It’s so weirdly fun and entertaining. Plus, the dance is really complex and interesting. I actually heard them talk about it during an interview, saying that after performing this dance, they would taste blood in their mouth. I’m not sure why they did, but obviously this can’t be good.

I mean, I love the song on it’s own. It’s ridiculously catchy and I can’t not sing it when I’m doing literally anything in my home. Chores, laundry, dishes. You name it, I’ll be grooving to it.

So, now I’m going to put this catchy song into your head forever and ever! Enjoy the weirdness!

I know, I know. You don’t have to thank me, but you’re welcome 😊

Disclaimer: To be fair, this group HATES all of their music videos. They like their dances and performing live on stage, but have always said that they despise their own music videos and have a hard time watching them themselves. Keep in mind, most groups have very little say in this process.

But even though they hate the music video, they do their best to act like they don’t, as most Korean performers do. So, I’m also posting a live version, which they prefer (granted it is in Japanese and not Korean).

Everybody

Live Version

Also, I get that these videos are really silly. I mean, come on 🀣 However, if you just listen to some of the songs on their own, they are very good. But I won’t get into posting about those because it would literally just become a long ass playlist that 90% of you could care less about.

I love music and sharing it with people, so I become super passionate about it once those flood gates open. However, it’s sometimes best to keep those gates closed.

Even now, I’m holding myself back from posting other songs of theirs because they are much better than this one, but FLOOD GATES MUST STAY CLOSED FOR THE WELLBEING OF EVERYONE!

It’s painful though to not show you the really really good ones…God, I feel like I’m giving you a bad impression of kpop in generally with this video.

Why the hell am I posting this?! There is really no rhyme or reason at all πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

  1. The only Korean group I listen to is BTS ….. but I listen to the instrumental music. I highly highly recommend giving BTS another chance, and recommend Smyang Piano on YouTube. His music is so relaxing and he plays music from other Korean groups too πŸ™‚ I listen to this music to help me focus!

Happy birthday to your husband!! πŸŽ‰πŸ₯³

    • Thanks! I do like instrumentals and acoustic. I’m a sucker for acoustic songs, especially guitar lol I truly did try to like them but I just don’t. Not really sure why. Maybe it’s a generational thing for me. I mean, now that I think about it, I don’t really listen to any group that isn’t my age or older πŸ€” so strange of me lol

And thanks! Unfortunately, he works on his birthday, so we will celebrate it more tomorrow

      • I can list the BTS songs but not sure what the songs actually sound like – I know the piano versions πŸ˜‚ Yeah, I’m the same way and tend not to listen to younger artists, or songs with lyrics. I like songs in languages I don’t understand because it doesn’t distract me like English lyrics do.

I should really check out more Korean bands though. I feel like I’m missing out on a lot of good music by sticking to one band or artist.

      • My husband prefers only instrumental and no lyrics too lol I enjoy that when sleeping! Actually, it’s super funny you mention the lyrics because that’s one of the reasons I liked Korean music – because I couldn’t understand what they were saying πŸ˜‚ it helped me because I didn’t want to listen to songs about love, sex, etc.

After listening to Korean music and reading their lyrics then going back to listen to American music, my tastes have totally shifted. To be honest, most American music isn’t good to me anymore. Especially American pop music that I used to like. And a lot of the lyrics for Korean music are much more poetic and/or discreetly sexual vs American music that just flat out says whatever they want and more lol

You should give it a try if you are interested! Actually, if you like instrumental, I suggest the band member from this group that I talked about in a previous post. The song Before Our Spring is something you might really enjoy. He wanted to be a writer instead of a singer, so all of his songs are by him and he composed all the music. Usually, he would just walk into random cafes with his guitar and put on free concerts. He was a pretty cool guy.
