Past Experiences

Have any of you ever had a job that completely abused you emotionally and mentally? So much so, that you had to go on antidepressants and almost committed suicide?

A previous job that I had was so emotionally abusive that I still have PTSD from it. It’s heartbreaking because it was in a field that I love. The only reason I stayed as long as I did was because of the passion I have for that field, and the fact that I worked so hard to get to where I was.

I’ve never experienced such an unprofessional working environment in my life, one where I was bullied continuously for three years. From the very beginning, the employees had it out for me. Who knows if it was because I was young, had more experience than them and they felt threatened by that? Whatever the reason, it doesn’t justify just how horrid they were to me and how their torments affected me mentally and physically.

The pain and trauma recently came to the forefront of my mind when I ran across information about that particular place. It made me angry that they could get away with what they did. It made me sad to hear that those who caused the pain and bullying are still working there, laughing and throwing lies about me to others that I once knew. It made me devastated that it forced me to leave my passion for the time being. This particular field is not easy to get into and, once you’ve been out of it for a while, it’s difficult to get back in. Granted, it won’t stop me from trying again down the line. After all, it is my passion.

I simply wanted to come on here to vent and ask if any of you have experienced bullying from a job?

  1. I have in all of my jobs. The first one (10 years ago) was the worst, they were laughing about how I should be impregnated from repeated rape, daily mobbing (group bullying).

It’s terrible and it makes sense that you’re traumatised from it. I’m still not over from my experiences too.
