My husband has recently gotten me to watch some great anime TV shows. I never thought I would enjoy them but, after they finished, I found myself sad and wanting more. Plus, I miss Kakashi and Spike! Luckily, he says there are a few more he plans to show me, like Attack on Titan.
I highly recommend you watch them if you haven’t already. I’m going to list the ones I’ve watched so far.
- Cowboy Bebop + the Movie (The soundtrack is also very melancholy. Yoko Kanno is a genius.)

- Naruto and Naruto Shippuden (However, there are many fillers that are pointless. Luckily, he knew which episodes to skip, but I feel like others would have no idea.)

- Bleach

- Death Note

- Samurai Champloo

- Full Metal Alchemist, including Brotherhood

Also, if you really want a good cry, watch the movie Your Name by Makoto Shinkai. I bawled my eyes out at the end.

For anime, filler is typically just things that aren’t in the associated Manga. Personally, I think filler helps to flesh out the personalities of the characters more and can give a nice break in some storylines.
Right off the bat the shows I can recommend are: Toradora, Steins;Gate, Spice and Wolf, Your Lie in April, Plastic Memories, A Silent Voice (Movie), and My Hero Academia.

Thanks for the recommendations! I’ll have to check them out 😊 I never watched any of the fillers unless they were important for character development. Some of them were also just rehashes of what the previous episode was about.
