Expressing Emotions about Vaginismus Through Art

Drawing and writing has always been my outlet during the hard times.

I drew this self portrait a VERY long time ago when I was 18 and first found out that I had vaginismus.

I felt broken and vulnerable. I felt rejected by my relationship, friends and family. So, as my way of expression and escape, I drew myself with broken wings, indicating my internal struggles & emotions. The nakedness indicates my vulnerability during this moment in my life.

I recently started drawing again and have begun another image relating to my mental health and vaginismus. I’m excited to finish it and share it with all of you!

What are some ways you express how you are feeling during difficult moments in your life?

    • Thank you so much! ❤ I am already working on a new piece, so hopefully I can finish it soon. I’m hoping it does help others open up with vaginismus and mental health in a positive way. I also hope it gives more individuals the idea that expression through art, poetry, music or writing is very powerful and helpful when dealing with your emotions 😊
