Little Accomplishments

Sometimes we need to take a step back and really appreciate the little accomplishments we have made. Life is hard, so why make it harder on yourself by judging every decision you make.

Damn, I should have gone to the gym instead of going home after work.

Why did I eat that additional pizza slice? I knew I’d regret it later!

Why did I not get the job? Are my qualifications not good enough? Am I not good enough?

It’s hard to not spiral once you’ve gotten yourself into that mental state of, “I could have done better.” But honestly, you need to give yourself credit for even the little achievements you’ve made.

Sure, I didn’t go to the gym today but I didn’t immediately take a nap when I got home from work. Instead, I cleaned up around the house, took my dog out and cooked something.

I definitely knew that pizza wasn’t going to make me feel any better about my weight, but did it make me feel happy in the moment? Yes, it did.

So I didn’t get the job, but I got an interview and I can honestly say I did the best that I could have done.

Even getting out of bed in the morning, taking a shower, driving to work are considered accomplishments! Just because people don’t acknowledge them daily, doesn’t mean it wasn’t an achievement for you. Here are some smaller achievements that I am proud of today:
  • I woke up on time
  • made breakfast
  • took my meds even though I didn’t want to
  • took my dog out
  • didn’t put creamer in my coffee
  • took a shower
  • drove to work
  • wrote a blog post
  • saved money and didn’t get a Starbucks
  • made my lunch instead of buying it
  • learned something new
What have you done today that you are proud of?
